A 23-year-old Neeraj Chopra instantly realized that he won the dreams of a billion Indians when javelin left his hand to a distance of 87.58m to win a Tokyo 2020 gold. It was the country’s 2nd-ever individual gold medal at the Olympics.
The Javelin thrower stood on top of podium to win the country’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in athletics with an outstanding performance in Tokyo Olympics.
This is super moment for Indian and a history has been created by this young boy, it was witnessed at the National Stadium in Tokyo on Saturday evening in the final of the men’s Javelin throw.

You know, Many legends have narrowly missed touching the milestones in the past before Neeraj Chopra. Legendary Milkha Singh finished fourth at Rome 1960 in 400m, PT Usha missed a bronze medal in the women’s 400m race at Los Angeles 1984 by 1/100th of a second.
Great PT Usha was jubilant after watching India clinching a gold medal in Tokyo Olympics. The former run machine was super excited after the event, the importance of Neeraj’s achievement clearly seen in her tweets.
She said “It is a great achievement. We’ve all waited so long for an Olympic medal in athletics. It is the toughest thing to win a medal in atheltics at the Olympics. Neeraj has done something incredible,” she told Olympics.com.
During her discussions with Olympics squad, she was supporting Neeraj Chopra and hoped that he win the medal for India. Usha was already a fan of this young boy and was expecting something good from him at this Olympics. Her expectations and happiness could been seen in her words across all social media.
Neeraj was already a champion and this could been noticed from his body language in all past tournaments, during 2016 world championship, Neeraj had shocked the entire world with World U20 Championship title win. Since then, Usha was following him and was measuring his growth chart. This revealed how seriously Usha was determined for this medal and always applauded this young boy’s efforts.
